Quilts of Hope
Providing handmade quilts as an expression of love to individuals facing crisis and hardship, reminding them that they are not alone.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide handmade quilts as gifts of love to individuals facing crisis and hardship. Through the generous service of volunteers, donors, and community partners, we seek to remind every recipient that they are seen, valued, and not alone.
Why Quilts Matter
A handmade quilt is more than fabric and thread. It is a gift created through many hours of skilled and loving work, offering warmth, comfort, and compassion to someone facing difficult circumstances.
Provident Hearts Foundation began by providing quilts to patients being discharged from the Regional Burn Center for a simple and meaningful reason. Severe burns damage the integrity of the skin—the body's largest organ—making warmth, protection, and physical comfort especially important during recovery. A quilt can provide warmth during healing, but it also provides something deeply human: the reminder that someone cared enough to create something personal during a time of pain, fear, and uncertainty.
We believe a handmade quilt communicates something words often cannot. It tells another person, “Someone you have never met invested their time, talents, and love to create this gift just for you.”
That message of compassion is at the heart of Quilts of Hope.
Our Outreach Today
What began with the Regional Burn Center has continued to grow as new opportunities to serve have emerged.
Provident Hearts Foundation currently provides handmade quilts through partnerships that include:
- The Regional Burn Center at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis
- The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- The Pediatric Unit at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis
- The Prairie Quilt Guild's outreach supporting Horizons at Kinloch Price Boys Ranch
- Individuals and families within our community experiencing unexpected hardship, such as the loss of a home due to fire
As Quilts of Hope continues to grow, we look forward to expanding our outreach to additional organizations and individuals who may benefit from receiving a handmade gift of love.
How the Program Works
The Quilts of Hope program is made possible through the generosity of many caring individuals working together.
Quilts Are Created
Volunteers, quilters, guild members, and supporters donate handmade quilts or contribute their time, talents, materials, and quilting services.
Quilts Are Prepared
Each quilt is inspected, labeled, and prepared for distribution through our outreach partnerships.
Quilts Are Delivered
Working with trusted community partners, quilts are placed into the hands of individuals facing crisis and hardship, offering comfort, encouragement, and a reminder that they are not alone.
Expanding Our Outreach
Provident Hearts Foundation is always looking for opportunities to place handmade quilts into the hands of individuals who may benefit from this simple expression of compassion.
If you know of a hospital, nonprofit organization, community program, or family experiencing circumstances where handmade quilts could provide comfort and encouragement, we would welcome the opportunity to learn more.
Every new partnership expands our ability to reach someone who needs hope.
How You Can Help

Whether you create one quilt or many, every handmade quilt has the potential to comfort someone during one of life's most difficult moments.
Donate Materials
Fabric, batting, backing, thread, labels, and other quilting supplies help make every quilt possible.

Whether you enjoy piecing quilt tops, quilting, binding, organizing donations, preparing deliveries, or helping behind the scenes, your time and talents can make a meaningful difference.
Financial Support
Financial contributions help purchase materials, expand outreach partnerships, and support the continued growth of the Quilts of Hope initiative.
Looking Toward the Future
Quilts of Hope was the first outreach initiative of Provident Hearts Foundation and continues to reflect the heart of our mission.
As the foundation grows, we hope to place handmade quilts into the hands of many more individuals and families facing crisis, while developing new partnerships that allow this simple gift of love to reach even farther throughout our community.
