About Provident Hearts

Our Philosophy

At Provident Hearts Foundation, everything we do begins with one simple belief: a provident heart prepares to care for others before they need us.

To us, being provident means looking beyond today's needs and preparing to care for tomorrow's. It means choosing compassion over complacency, planning over panic, and service over self-interest. It is the belief that one of the greatest ways we can love our neighbors is by preparing before they ever need our help.

A provident heart does not wait for hardship to arrive before deciding to care. It prepares today so that when tomorrow brings uncertainty, fear can be replaced with hope, confidence, and the knowledge that no one has to face crisis alone.

This philosophy shapes every decision we make. Whether we are comforting someone during a personal crisis, helping restore stability after hardship, or preparing our community before disaster strikes, every initiative of Provident Hearts Foundation is simply another expression of a provident heart.

Provident Hearts Foundation

Our Vision

We are dedicated to showing care and compassion to those in need during times of crisis. Through the help of our partners and volunteers, we reach out to individuals facing personal crisis with arms of love.

In addition to individual outreach during times of crisis, we are focused on advanced preparation for times when entire communities may face hardship or calamity.

We wish to enable everyone to face adversity with hope and dignity, feeling the love of God and of their fellow man.

This is our vision.

No one should have to face their struggles alone.

Our Story

Provident Hearts Foundation grew from a lifelong awareness of the struggles people face during times of crisis and hardship.

Founder Joshua Galloway was introduced at an early age to the devastating effects severe burns can have on individuals and families. Those experiences created a lasting awareness of both the physical and emotional challenges people endure during times of profound hardship. Years later, while serving as a paramedic, Josh experienced the privilege of entering people's lives during some of their most difficult moments. In the midst of fear, uncertainty, and crisis, he learned that one calm voice, one reassuring presence, and one person willing to help could profoundly change another person's experience. While emergency medicine provided immediate care and transportation, it also reinforced a much deeper lesson: compassion matters. Even small acts of kindness can restore hope, bring peace during chaos, and remind someone they are not facing their struggles alone.

Those experiences shaped Josh's belief that changing a community begins by caring for one person or one family at a time. Every life has value. Every act of service matters. Strong communities are built by people who choose to care for one another, especially during life's most difficult moments.

Through prayer, reflection, and careful consideration about how best to serve others, Josh and his wife, Annette, began shaping the vision that would eventually become Provident Hearts Foundation.

From the beginning, the vision was always greater than any single program. Provident Hearts Foundation was founded on the belief that individuals and communities should not have to face hardship without compassion, preparation, hope, and practical support.

We believe that in this time of incredible technological advancement and abundance, no one should have to sleep on the streets. Temporary shelter is important for the preservation of life, but only a home will end homelessness. A home provides dignity, safety, privacy, stability, and a foundation from which people can begin rebuilding their lives. It provides a place to sleep safely at night, store personal belongings, and apply for work. A home restores hope and can fundamentally change the direction of a person's future.

We also believe communities become stronger when people prepare in advance to care for one another during times of hardship, uncertainty, and crisis.

Although these larger goals require long-term growth, partnerships, and funding, Josh and Annette believed it was important to begin serving immediately with the resources and abilities they already had.

Quilting outreach became the starting point.

Burn patients, in particular, have lost the integrity of the body's largest organ—the skin—making warmth, comfort, and protection especially meaningful. A handmade quilt offers more than physical warmth. It is a gift created through many hours of skilled and loving work that reminds someone they are seen, valued, and cared for during a difficult season of life.

Provident Hearts Foundation began by partnering with the Regional Burn Center and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit to provide handmade quilts to individuals facing crisis and hardship. Since then, the foundation has continued to grow through volunteers, donated materials, community support, and partnerships with others who believe that no one should have to face hardship alone.

Today, Provident Hearts Foundation continues expanding compassionate outreach while building toward broader housing and community preparedness initiatives that will help individuals and entire communities face adversity with greater hope, dignity, and confidence.

Our Values

Everything we do is guided by a few simple convictions.

Compassion

We believe every person deserves to be treated with kindness, respect, and genuine care, especially during life's most difficult moments.

Dignity

We believe every individual has inherent worth. Our desire is not only to meet immediate needs but also to help restore hope, stability, confidence, and dignity.

Stewardship

We believe every donation, every volunteer hour, every partnership, and every opportunity entrusted to us should be managed wisely and faithfully.

Community

We believe lasting change happens when neighbors, churches, businesses, organizations, and volunteers work together in a spirit of service.

Hope

We believe hope is one of the greatest gifts we can offer another person. Every initiative of Provident Hearts Foundation exists to help people face adversity with greater confidence, dignity, and hope.

Looking Toward the Future

Provident Hearts Foundation is still in the early chapters of a much larger vision.

As the foundation grows, we hope to expand compassionate outreach through Quilts of Hope, develop innovative housing solutions that restore dignity and stability, and strengthen communities through thoughtful preparedness initiatives.

While our programs may continue to grow and evolve, our philosophy will remain unchanged.

We will continue striving to live with provident hearts—preparing today to care for others tomorrow.

Because we believe...
No one should have to face crisis alone.
